Pulwama :   As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a series of awareness, outreach, sports and enforcement activities were conducted Saturday across district Pulwama to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy and drug-free society.

Awareness programmes were conducted in Tral-e-Payeen, Sangerwani, and Chandhara to educate participants about the dangers of substance abuse and the necessity of collective action to combat drug-related issues. Activities included awareness sessions, pledge ceremonies, signature campaigns, plantation drives, and padyatras, all aimed at fostering a sense of shared responsibility for creating a drug-free society. In Barsoo Awantipora, Self-Help Group (SHG) members organized awareness and counseling initiatives to inform the local community about the negative impacts of drug abuse and to enhance community involvement in the campaign. Concurrently, the Drug Control Department in Pulwama carried out an inspection of Mohammadia Nursing Home, issuing an on-the-spot notice for improper drug storage and directing the facility to ensure adequate space for medication storage. The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) in Pulwama also played a significant role by organizing various sports and awareness activities in educational institutions throughout the district. Zonal-level tournaments for girls in Volleyball, Kho-Kho, and Kabaddi were held in Zone Pulwama, while similar events for U-17 boys took place in Zone Tahab. Additional awareness programmes and group discussions were conducted in Zones Pampore and Tral, with a zonal-level AAG Boys Badminton Tournament in Zone Shadimarg and a Table Tennis Tournament in Zone Awantipora. These events were inaugurated by department officials and Heads of Institutions, who led pledge ceremonies where participants committed to working together for a drug-free and healthy Pulwama and Jammu & Kashmir.
