Poonch : Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma Saturday chaired a meeting at the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex Poonch to review the implementation of the youth engagement and empowerment initiatives being undertaken by different departments across the district.

The meeting was attended by district heads of various departments including employment, education, youth services & sports, agriculture, floriculture, labour, health, DIC, ITI, colleges and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a department-wise review and stressed upon all stakeholders to enhance youth participation and ensure effective implementation of schemes aimed at skill development, self-employment and constructive engagement of youth.

Special emphasis was laid on generating self-employment opportunities for unemployed youth through different government schemes and entrepreneurship programmes.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to motivate and facilitate youth participation in initiatives such as UdyamJagriti, poultry and egg farming under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), start-up and livelihood generation schemes, besides other employment-oriented activities.

The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized increasing the involvement of college students and youth in NCC, NSS, sports and cultural activities for their overall personality development and constructive engagement.

All departments were instructed to work in close coordination and prepare comprehensive youth engagement and empowerment plans with measurable targets. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to submit their departmental action plans by Monday for further review and implementation.

The meeting concluded with a resolve to adopt a coordinated approach for empowering the youth of the district and channelizing their potential towards positive and productive activities.
