Awantipora : The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Islamic University of Science and Technology organised an interactive program with Taqwa Qadri, an Aero-Thermal Engineer at a leading jet engine manufacturing company under the Industry Connect initiative of the Office of the Dean Outreach.
The program was aimed to enhance the engagement between academia and industry that provided students valuable insights into the evolving demands of the professional landscape. Inaugurated by Dr. Majid H. Koul, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the event emphasized the significance of industry interaction in enriching engineering education and equipping students for future challenges. Dean Outreach, Dr. Ruheela Hassan, commended the department for organizing the initiative and highlighted the necessity for ongoing collaboration to improve students’ exposure to practical applications and career opportunities. During the session, Ms. Qadri shared her professional experiences, urging students to build a strong foundation in core engineering subjects while fostering resilience and adaptability in their careers. She encouraged viewing challenges as opportunities for growth and stressed the importance of internships, effective communication, presentation skills, and industry-focused project work. Additionally, she advised students on the value of innovation-driven learning and the development of relevant technical projects to prepare for entry into leading industries. The program also featured an interactive session where students engaged in discussions about career pathways, innovation in engineering, and the technical requirements of the aerospace industry.
