Appeals people for active participation in Self-Enumeration Process

KISHTWAR, MAY 16: Deputy Commissioner (Principal Census Officer) Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma today urged the people of the district to actively participate in the self-enumeration process, which is set to begin from May 17 (tomorrow).

He was addressing a press conference regarding the preparation of the district for Census 2027 operations.  He emphasized that Census 2027 shall be India’s first fully digital census, incorporating a self-enumeration facility to ensure faster, transparent and error-free data collection. “Citizens can complete the self-enumeration process using smartphones, laptops, or desktop computers by visiting the official census portal at sc.census.gov.in,” he informed.

The DC further stated that detailed instructions regarding the self-enumeration process are available on the portal. “In addition, QR codes printed on banners, pamphlets and awareness material distributed across the district can be scanned for direct access to the portal and step-by-step guidance,” he explained.

After successful completion of self-enumeration, citizens shall receive a Unique Identification Number along with a certificate. The Deputy Commissioner advised the public to preserve this ID carefully, as it must be shown to the census enumerator during field verification visits in villages and localities.

Appealing to the public to cooperate fully, the Deputy Commissioner stated that census data plays a crucial role in planning and development activities, including power supply, water facilities, road infrastructure, employment generation, skill development and other welfare schemes. He urged people not to pay attention to rumors or misinformation circulating on social media regarding the census process.

He clarified that the enumerators visiting households shall carry proper identification and should be treated respectfully. “Citizens are advised to verify the identification of enumerators before sharing information,” he said. He further reassured the public that no personal information collected during the census will be disclosed publicly, as the Census Act ensures complete confidentiality of all data provided by citizens.

Addressing concerns related to OTPs and misuse of information, the Deputy Commissioner clarified that there is no such risk involved in the process and that all information submitted through the digital platform remains secure and confidential.

The Deputy Commissioner made a special appeal to the youth of Kishtwar to assist elderly family members in completing self-enumeration so that every household can participate independently and accurately. He expressed hope that Kishtwar district would achieve 100 percent self-enumeration and emerge as a model district in the successful implementation of Census 2027.

The district administration urged all residents to participate responsibly and ensure accurate submission of information for effective planning and development of the region.

ADC (DCO) Pawan Kotwal and DSEO (ADCO) Suresh Kumar Sharma were also present on the occasion.
