Anantnag : Police on Friday said that it has seized five vehicles for involvement in illegal mining in Anantnag district. In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that in the first incident, a police team from the Srigufwara Police Station during a naka checking intercepted four tractors that were illegally transporting boulders. A case under FIR No. 49/2026 was registered and an investigation is underway. In a separate action, the Utrasoo Police Station seized another tractor, registered as JK13E-4993, at Bosan Crossing. The vehicle was found to be carrying illegally extracted minerals and was driven by Gowhar Ahmad Shergojri from Krad. Legal proceedings have been initiated in this case as well. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities , warning therein violators that strict legal action will be enforced against those exploiting natural resources.
