Doda :Union Joint Secretary, Ministry for Women & Child Development and Member, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma visited Doda district on Thursday to review the functioning of PM SHRI schools and assess the implementation of various educational initiatives.
During a recent visit, the Union Joint Secretary inspected PM SHRI Higher Secondary Schools in Trown, Bhalra, and Khellani, focusing on various aspects such as academic activities, infrastructure, digital learning facilities, and vocational education initiatives. Accompanied by key officials, including the Chief Education Officer and District Social Welfare Officer, Dr. Sharma engaged with school authorities and students, emphasizing the need for increased student enrollment through awareness campaigns about the available facilities and opportunities. The Chief Education Officer highlighted administrative challenges, particularly the shortage of Principals and Headmasters in several institutions. Dr. Sharma committed to addressing this issue with the relevant authorities. The officials noted that PM SHRI schools serve as nodal institutions, providing academic and digital support to neighboring schools through a cluster-based approach. Dr. Sharma stressed the importance of regular monitoring of these clusters to enhance learning outcomes and governance. He also underscored the significance of expanding vocational education programs to equip students with practical skills, thereby improving their employability. Additionally, Dr. Sharma directed the implementation of structured career counseling programs during study hours to assist students in making informed career choices. The visit included a review of sports infrastructure, career guidance initiatives, and digital learning interventions under the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) and DIKSHA platforms, with a focus on their effective utilization to strengthen the teaching-learning process. Reiterating the importance of child rights and student welfare, Dr. Sharma called for collaborative efforts among institutions, parents, and society to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for every child.
