Kulgam :  Police on Thursday said that Police Station Qazigund has dismantled an interstate narcotics network and arrested a female drug peddler and her associate.

In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that a suspect Shakoor Khan, was arrested as he was found in possession of approximately 6.9 grams of a heroin-like substance. An FIR under the NDPS Act was registered in this connection. Police investigations traced the narcotics supply chain back to Rekha, a notorious drug peddler residing in Sangam. Acting on credible inputs police executed a search warrant at her rented accommodation, uncovering around 8.4 grams of heroin, syringes, aluminum foil, and stolen property hidden in a concealed underground compartment. During questioning, Rekha confessed here involvement in supplying narcotics to over 200 clients and revealed that her family members were also involved in drug trafficking activities in Kashmir. In response to her disclosures, police conducted a subsequent raid in Mir Bazar following which her son, Sadam was arrested. The investigation is ongoing, aiming to fully expose the drug network and its connections. SSP Kulgam on this occasion emphasized police’s commitment to zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and appealed people to assist law enforcement by sharing inputs related to drug-related activities.
