NMBA activities continue across Pulwama with Awareness, Sports, Outreach Programmes

Pulwama : As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the NashaMukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a series of awareness, outreach and sports activities were conducted Wednesday  across District Pulwama to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy and drug-free society.

A Mega Awareness Camp was organised by the Department of Horticulture, Zone Pulwama, at MMET School Pulwama. The programme witnessed active participation from students, members of the Traders Federation, senior citizens and social activists.Various awareness activities including debates, skits and awareness lectures were conducted to sensitise participants regarding the harmful effects and consequences of drug abuse.

Later, a padyatra was also organised to spread awareness and encourage collective responsibility towards building a drug-free society.

Similarly, awareness programmes were organised at Tral-i-Payeen, Dadsara and Rajpora, where participants were sensitised about the harmful impact of substance abuse and the importance of collective efforts in curbing the menace of drugs.

Meanwhile, SHG members organised an awareness and counselling programme at Patipora Litter besides conducting a padyatra to educate the public regarding the ill effects of drug abuse and promote community participation in the anti-drug campaign.

Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Pulwama also organised multiple programmes across various educational zones of the district aimed at eradicating the menace of drug abuse.

Zone Pulwama organised writing competitions at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Pulwama, High School Puchal and UPS Chewakalan. The zone also conducted Kabaddi competitions at Higher Secondary School (HSS) Hawl and Kho Kho competitions at UPS Drusu.

Zone Tahab organised a cleanliness drive at HSS Achan and writing competitions at HS Naina, Aligarh Model Educational Trust Panzgam and UPS Ladermar.

Zone Pampore organised a mini marathon at Eternal Success School Pampore, while Zone Tral conducted awareness programmes regarding drug de-addiction at various educational institutions across the zone.

In addition to the above-mentioned programmes, pledge ceremonies were organised at all venues and institutions to mark the collective support towards building a physically fit, mentally sound and drug-free society.

People from different sections of society participated in the activities with enthusiasm and appreciated the continued efforts being undertaken under the campaign to create a healthy, aware and prosperous society.
