JKSC launches Kashmir Champions Football League Trials across Kashmir region

Ganderbal : J&K Sports Council (JKSC) Wednesday  flagged off the Kashmir Champions Football League (KCFL) trials at Ganderbal, marking the launch of a district-wide football talent identification drive across the Kashmir Valley.

The recent turnout of youth across the district for sports registration and competition highlights a significant demand for structured sporting platforms at the grassroots level. The KCFL trial roadmap encompasses all districts of Kashmir, ensuring that every deserving athlete has access to opportunities. This initiative is a crucial component of the Government of J&K’s 100-Day NashaMukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, which aims to combat the rising drug issue through sports, youth engagement, and community involvement. The JKSC is driven by the belief that talent exists in every district and requires a platform to flourish. The KCFL offers a structured, government-supported pathway from grassroots trials to organized league competition, providing Kashmir’s youth with not only a competitive arena but also a future to aspire to. The Council emphasizes that ongoing participation in sports fosters discipline, confidence, teamwork, and purpose, serving as a protective barrier against substance abuse and negative influences. To enhance athletic culture and youth development, JKSC is focused on creating year-round sporting ecosystems rather than isolated events. The upcoming KCFL trial drives will continue across the remaining districts, with selected players entering the full Kashmir Champions Football League structure, ensuring sustained engagement and long-term athlete development. In addition to football, volleyball is also gaining traction in the region, with the South Kashmir Volleyball League set to begin in Shopian. This league will feature six teams from various districts, providing a dynamic platform for young athletes to demonstrate their skills through organized competition. The J&K Sports Council remains committed to fostering a stronger, healthier, and more empowered generation through sports.
