DC Ramban presides over Weekly Block Diwas at Gundi-Dharam

Ramban : Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan Wednesday  presided over the weekly Block Diwas meeting at Gundi-Dharam, providing a direct platform for interaction between the district administration and local residents and resolving the public issues on the spot.

The Block Diwas was attended by SDM Gool Imtiaz Ahmed;ACD   Sheraz Ahmed; Executive Engineers, district and sectoral officers of line departments, besides a large number of local residents.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic public participation, with residents projecting several demands and grievances related to road connectivity, drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare, education, ration cards and other developmental issues.

Taking immediate cognizance of the issues raised, the Deputy Commissioner resolved most of the grievances on the spot by issuing directions to the concerned officers for their prompt redressal and fixing strict timelines for execution.

Addressing the issue of road connectivity, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer PMGSY to immediately conduct a comprehensive survey and initiate necessary repair and restoration works to ensure visible improvement in road connectivity and drainage.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer JPDCL to provide additional electric poles for the area and complete installation within ten days. Regarding water supply, he instructed the Jal Shakti Department to make arrangements to meet irrigation and drinking water needs till permanent solutions under the Jal Jeevan Mission are completed.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Medical Officer to ensure that a medical team equipped with essential medicines conducts weekly visits to the area. He further assured the public that an ambulance for Gundi-Dharam would be provided at the earliest.

The DC also directed the Assistant Director, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs to organise a special camp in the area for resolution of ration card-related issues and other grievances pertaining to the department. He also directed the ACD to take necessary steps for construction of a Community Sanitary Complex at Tata Pani.

The Deputy Commissioner assured the public that all genuine demands raised would be addressed in a time-bound manner. He also appealed to the public to extend full cooperation in House Listing and other Census operations, emphasizing that accurate and timely data collection is crucial for effective planning, equitable resource allocation and implementation of welfare schemes. He assured the people that the administration would continue holding such outreach programmes to ensure prompt resolution of public issues at their doorstep.

The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the significance of the ongoing NashaMukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, urging people, particularly the youth, to actively support the campaign against drug abuse.
