NTA Cancels NEET UG 2026 Over Paper Leak, Re-Examination Dates To Be Announced Soon
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegramEmail

Srinagar, May 12: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday announced the cancellation of the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on May 3, stating that the decision was taken in coordination with central agencies and with the approval of the Government of India to ensure transparency and credibility in the examination system.

In a statement, the NTA said that after examining inputs received in coordination with central agencies and findings shared by law enforcement authorities, it was concluded that the existing examination process “could not be allowed to stand.”

The Agency said the NEET (UG) 2026 examination will now be re-conducted on dates to be notified separately through official channels. Revised admit cards and examination schedules will also be issued in due course.

The Government of India has also decided to hand over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations related to the examination process. The NTA said it will fully cooperate with the investigation and provide all necessary records and assistance.

The Agency stated that the decision was taken in the interest of students and to protect public trust in the national examination system, acknowledging that the re-conduct would cause inconvenience to candidates and their families.

According to the NTA, all registration details, candidature data and examination centres chosen during the May 2026 cycle will remain valid for the fresh examination. It added that no fresh registration will be required and no additional examination fee will be charged.

The NTA further said that fees already paid by candidates will be refunded, while the re-conducted examination will be organised using the Agency’s internal resources.

Candidates and parents have been advised to rely only on official communications issued by the NTA and avoid unverified reports circulating on social media platforms.

The Agency has also issued helpline details for assistance, including email support at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and helpline numbers 011-40759000 and 011-69227700.
