Manipal Hospitals Gurugram Expands Reach, Launches Expert Urology OPD in Srinagar
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegramEmail

Srinagar:: Manipal Hospitals, based in Gurugram, has inaugurated a specialized Urology and Renal Transplant outpatient department (OPD) in Srinagar to improve access to advanced urological care in the region.

The facility will provide expert consultations for various kidney disorders, prostate conditions, renal cancers, and transplant-related issues, with guidance from Dr. Arif Akhtar, a leading consultant in urology and renal transplant. Urological disorders are increasingly prevalent in India, particularly kidney stones and cancers, attributed to factors such as inadequate hydration, poor dietary habits, obesity, and sedentary lifestyles. Research indicates that approximately 12–15% of the Indian population suffers from kidney stone disease, with North India identified as a high-prevalence area. It is crucial for individuals to recognize symptoms like persistent back pain, hematuria, and urinary difficulties to avoid serious complications. Dr. Akhtar emphasized the rising incidence of urological disorders among younger populations and the challenges faced by patients in Kashmir in accessing specialized care, which often leads to delayed diagnoses and complications. He highlighted the importance of awareness regarding early symptoms, regular health check-ups, and timely medical intervention. Additionally, advancements in treatment methods, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgeries, are enhancing patient outcomes. Manipal Hospitals is dedicated to broadening access to specialized healthcare services across India. The new OPD in Srinagar aims to facilitate early diagnosis, specialized treatment, and continuity of care for patients with complex urological conditions. As a leading healthcare provider, Manipal Hospitals serves over 8 million patients annually and operates a network of 49 hospitals across 24 cities, employing over 34,000 staff members, including more than 11,000 doctors. The organization is recognized for its commitment to high-quality, affordable healthcare and holds various accreditations, including AAHRPP and NABH.
