Sopore :Police on Friday said that it has  taken further stringent action against illegal pharmaceutical practices in coordination with Drug Control Authorities  in Police District Sopore.

In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that during a joint inspection at Nowpora Kalan Sopore, two chemist shops were found in violation of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act. The shops were being run by Shafiq ul Hassan, S/O Abdul Rashid and Mohammad Rafi Ganie S/O Sunaullah Ganie,  residents of Nowpora Kalan Sopore. Acting promptly, the Drug Inspector sealed both premises on the spot after following due legal procedure and legal action has been initiated against the proprietors under relevant provisions of law.

With this, the total number of such enforcement actions has risen to Ten (10), reflecting sustained and targeted action against unlicensed and non-compliant chemist shops across the district.

In its statement Police reiterated that no unlicensed or non-compliant medical store will be allowed to operate, and any violation involving illegal sale or storage of medicines or psychotropic substances will invite strict and immediate legal action.

Calling upon people to purchase medicines only from authorised and licensed chemists Police in its statement reiterated its  commitment to strict enforcement under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to curb misuse of drugs for building a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
