Srinagar :The District Level Committee Friday examined the proposals for completion/Closure of pending works undertaken in Kishtwar district under MGNREGA from 2016–17 to 2025–26.

The proposals are to be forwarded to the Administrative Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, J&K, for seeking approval in accordance with the advisory issued by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India.

Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma- the Committee Chairman, chaired the meeting.

The Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Manoj Kumar, who is also the Member Convener of the DLC, briefed the Committee regarding the provisions of the advisory issued by the MoRD and the mechanism adopted at the block level for the identification and processing of such works.

The Committee deliberated in detail upon the advisory issued by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, pertaining to the closure of incomplete/ongoing works under MGNREGA having low expenditure and negligible physical progress.

The Deputy Commissioner examined block-wise proposals submitted by the concerned Block Development Officers along with Gram Sabha resolutions, geo-tagged photographs and requisite certifications furnished by the BDOs. The physical and financial status of the works was reviewed comprehensively.

The issues relating to the non-visibility and non-geo-tagging of certain works owing to minimal progress on the ground were also discussed threadbare.

The Deputy Commissioner (Chairman) raised certain observations regarding the proposals placed before the Committee. Accordingly, the Assistant Commissioner Development (Member Convener, DLC) was directed to address the observations and submit revised proposals/documents for further consideration strictly in accordance with the prescribed advisory and guidelines.

The meeting was attended by ACD Manoj Kumar; DFO Mahesh Thakur; DFO Marwah Vishal Choudhary; CAO Kushal Chandel; CHO Sajid Mustafa; Executive Engineer REW Er Satbir Singh; District Soil Conservation Officer, besides all Block Development Officers of the district.
