Srinagar :The ongoing All India Inter-University Wushu Championship 2026 witnessed intense competition and strong spectator participation at the SKISC, Srinagar. The championship is being organised by the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, University of Kashmir, under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities.
More than 200 bouts were conducted during the day across several Sanda weight categories, including below 80 kg, below 85 kg, below 90 kg, below 100 kg, and above 100 kg in both men’s and women’s divisions. The bouts featured fast-paced action, technical skill, and close contests, with successful athletes advancing to the quarterfinal stage scheduled for the final day of the championship.
Alongside the Sanda events, Taolu competitions continued to draw attention with participants showcasing precision, balance, agility, and traditional weapon routines. Athletes from the National Sports University delivered notable performances in the Taolu segment, earning appreciation from spectators and officials alike.
While distributing medals to the winners, Coordinator DPES KU, Dr. Surjeet Singh, said that hosting national-level events plays an important role in strengthening the sports culture of the region and encourages young athletes to pursue competitive sports at higher levels.
