Four drug peddlers arrested across Kashmir; Contraband substances recovered

Srinagar, May 9: In continuation of the ongoing anti-drug enforcement drive under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Anantnag, Budgam & Handwara in separate actions and recovered contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.

In Anantnag, during routine patrolling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Larnoo, a suspicious person was intercepted by the police party at Khrety, Larnoo. During his personal search, 06 sticks of charas-like substance wrapped in corn husk, weighing approximately 96 grams, were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as as Gh Nabi Raina son of Gh Rasool Raina resident of Frimoo Gadol, Ahlan Kokernag. The contraband substance was seized on spot as per legal procedures.

In Budgam, J&K Police achieved a major success by arresting two drug peddlers and recovering a commercial quantity of contraband substance in Khansahib area of district Budgam. The operation was carried out by a police party of Police Post Waterihal during naka checking at Rawalpora. During the checking, one individual identified as Nazir Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Rehman Ganie resident of Rakhayee Arizal was intercepted and subsequently apprehended. During his personal search, 27 grams of charas-like substance concealed in corn husks was recovered from his possession.

During the course of investigation on backward linkage, involvement of another person namely Mohd Rafiq Khan S/o Ab Rehman Khan R/o Arizal was established from whom approximately 7 Kg 740 grams of charas-like substance was recovered. Both the accused are arrested and the investigation is underway to identify others linked with the narcotics network.

In Handwara, Police achieved another significant success by apprehending a drug peddler during a high-alert naka operation at Gund Khuru area falling within the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara. Acting vigilantly during routine checking, a police team from Police Post Langate observed a suspicious individual attempting to flee from the spot after noticing the naka party. Demonstrating prompt response and operational alertness, the police personnel swiftly chased and intercepted the suspect. During the subsequent personal search, officers recovered Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus contraband substance from his possession, exposing his involvement in illegal narcotics trafficking. The accused has been identified as Sahil Manzoor Dar son of Manzoor Ahmad Dar resident of Maratgam Handwara.

All the accused persons have been arrested and accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

Police have once again demonstrated its firm resolve to dismantle the narcotics network and protect society from the menace of drugs. General public is urged to continue extending support by sharing information related to drug peddling, with assurance of complete confidentiality.
