Kulgam :Taking governance to the doorsteps of the people, a Mega Block Diwas was Wednesday  held at Pahloo under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam.

The programme was attended by ADC, Viqar Ahmed Giri; ACR, Riyaz Ahmad Shah; ACD, Bilal Ahmad Kamgar; JDP, Malik Suhail; Executive Engineers, CEO, Tehsildar Pahloo, BDO, and other district and sectoral officers.

During the event, the DC interacted with a large gathering of residents from Pahloo and adjoining areas, who apprised the administration of various issues and demands related to basic amenities and developmental needs.

Key issues highlighted by the public included completion and operationalisation of filtration plants, strengthening of solid waste management systems, development of playfields, and establishment of a public library and children’s park.

Residents of Lamad village raised concerns regarding augmentation of staff and machinery at the local health centre, construction of a veterinary hospital building, availability of a dedicated doctor at the animal care centre, and development of playfields at Lamad Grad and BrinalLamad. They also demanded construction of cowsheds.

Several road connectivity issues were projected, including development and widening of Halan road, construction of Lamad–Akhal road, Gasren–Pombay road, and Pahloo–Lankar–Pombay and other  roads.

The public further sought extension of the flood protection bund at Aadigatnoo, early completion of filtration works, and sanction and distribution of construction wood among beneficiaries in the Lamad area.

Residents from Banimulla demanded posting of a Headmaster, augmentation of staff in educational institutions, completion of water supply schemes, and repair of the Banimulla canal.

People from various other villages also put forth their demands and developmental requirements of their areas.

On the occasion, registration and awareness counters were also set up to disseminate information about various government schemes and facilitate on-the-spot registration of eligible beneficiaries.

The DC gave a patient hearing to all grievances and assured that all genuine demands would be addressed in a time-bound manner. He directed the concerned officers to take immediate action on priority issues. He urged the public to avail benefits under various government initiatives.

All issues and demands raised during the programme were duly recorded for appropriate action and redressal.
