DC Doda inspects Welfare, healthcare facilities

Jammu : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda Krishan Lal, the other day conducted an extensive tour of key welfare and healthcare institutions across the district to assess facilities and interact with beneficiaries.

The DC visited the Government Girls’ Hostel located near Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS). He carried out a detailed inspection of the hostel infrastructure, including rooms, sanitation facilities and kitchen arrangements. He reviewed the   quality of food being provided to the students. During interaction with the resident students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, he enquired about their living conditions, academic support and overall well-being. He stressed the importance of providing a safe, secure and enabling environment for girls to pursue education and achieve their aspirations.

Later, the DC visited Nari Niketan at Nagri, where he interacted with inmate women and orphans residing at the facility. He inspected the kitchen and reviewed food preparation practices, hygiene standards and the quality of meals being served. He also assessed arrangements related to their care, protection, rehabilitation and livelihood support. Emphasizing dignity and self-reliance, he directed the concerned authorities to ensure that all welfare measures and support services are delivered efficiently and in a timely manner.

Afterward, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Associated Hospital GMC. He took stock of the Hospital functioning, besides the availability of medical staff, medicines and diagnostic services. Interacting with doctors, paramedical staff and patients, he stressed the need for maintaining high standards of healthcare delivery and ensuring timely and efficient medical services to the public. He also inspected the hospital canteen and directed authorities to ensure hygiene, quality food and reasonable pricing for attendants and patients.

The DC also inspected the ongoing construction work of the new multi-storey parking facility at New Bus Stand. He reviewed the pace and quality of work and instructed the executing agency to expedite the project while strictly adhering to safety and quality standards, so that the facility is completed within the stipulated timeline.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for a coordinated and proactive approach among departments to improve service delivery across welfare and healthcare institutions. He directed officers and officials to ensure regular monitoring of facilities, uninterrupted availability of essential services and a compassionate approach while dealing with beneficiaries, especially women, children and other vulnerable groups.

Chief Planning Officer Manesh Kumar, District Social Welfare Officer Zubair Ahmed, along with other concerned officers, accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.
