Srinagar, May 7: Amar Singh College on Thursday removed Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Lone from all academic affairs of the Department of Media Studies following allegations of harassment involving a female student.
An official order issued by the office of the principal said the action was taken in response to demonstrations staged by students of the college over the alleged incident.
“Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Lone, HoD, Department of Media Studies, is hereby disassociated from all academic affairs of the Department with immediate effect, pending the outcome of the inquiry,” the order stated.
The college administration said the Proctorial Board has been tasked with conducting a “transparent and time-bound inquiry” into the matter and has been asked to submit its report within two days.
Pending completion of the investigation, Prof. Nusrat Sayed has been assigned to look after the affairs of the Department of Media Studies, the order added.
