Srinagar, May 6: Continuing its aggressive campaign against narcotics under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police have demolished an illegally constructed residential structure belonging to a habitual drug peddler in the Palpora Noorbagh are of Srinagar district.

A Police spokesperson said, The accused, Hilal Ahmad Sheikh S/o Feroz Ahmad Sheikh R/o Zahidpora Hawal A/P Pamposh Colony Palpora Noorbagh , had illegally encroached upon state land and raised the structure without any lawful authority.

The accused is involved in multiple NDPS cases , including:

● FIR No. 06/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Khanyar

● FIR No. 47/2026 U/S 8/20, 22 NDPS Act of PS Safakadal

During investigation and verification, it surfaced that the structure had been raised on illegally occupied land using proceeds generated through narcotics trafficking. The construction was found to be in blatant violation of revenue laws and established legal procedures..

Further enquiry has also revealed that close associates and family members of the accused are reportedly involved in multiple NDPS cases across the Valley, pointing towards a broader network linked to drug peddling activities.

Acting on credible inputs and after completion of all legal and codal formalities, the demolition was carried out in coordination with the concerned authorities and strictly in accordance with law.

The action serves as a strong warning that properties created through proceeds of drug trafficking and illegal activities shall not be allowed to stand, and those involved in narcotics trade will face stringent legal consequences.

Srinagar Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and remains committed to dismantling the entire narcotics ecosystem, including its financial and logistical networks. Citizens are urged to actively support the fight against drugs to protect society and the younger generation from this growing menace.
