Kishtwar : The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) Kishtwar hosted the grand finale of the U/17 Boys Cricket Tournament “Leagues of Classics” organised under the ongoing 100 Day NashaMukt J&K Abhiyan campaign, themed “Choose Sports Not Drugs.”

The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from teams representing 20 districts of Jammu & Kashmir, reflecting the spirit of sportsmanship and unity among youth.

The final match between Baramulla and Anantnag turned out to be a gripping contest. In a nail-biting finish, Baramulla emerged victorious by 1 wicket, chasing down the target in the last over with remarkable composure and determination. The event was graced by the Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma as the Chief Guest. Principal GHSS Boys Ashok Kumar attended the event as the Guest of Honour.

The tournament was conducted under the direction of Director General YSS J&K, Anuradha Gupta and under the supervision of DYSSO Kishtwar, Jaffer Haider Sheikh.

A large gathering of sports enthusiasts, officials and students attended the final, showcasing the growing sports culture and reinforcing the positive impact of sports in promoting a drug-free society.

After the match, a prize distribution ceremony was held where the Deputy Commissioner (Chief Guest) felicitated the winning and runner-up teams. Trophies, medals and certificates were awarded in recognition of their outstanding performances.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of sports in channeling youth energy toward constructive activities and promoting a healthy, disciplined lifestyle. He reiterated the message of a drug-free society through active participation in sports.

He further highlighted that campaigns like the 100 Day NashaMukt J&K Abhiyan, inaugurated on 11 April 2026 by the Lieutenant Governor, UT of J&K, play a vital role in sensitizing youth about the ill effects of drug abuse. He appreciated the efforts of the Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar for organizing such a large-scale event and providing a platform for young talent.
