Jammu : Directorate of Industries and Commerce (DI&C) Jammu, in collaboration with Receivables Exchange of India Ltd. (RXIL) successfully organized a Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) awareness-cum-registration camp Monday at the Bari Brahmana Industrial Association Office.

The RXIL delegation was led by Manager – Business Development AkshayBatwara and Senior Manager – Business Development Martand Srivastava.

The programme was attended by Joint Director (Planning) Shivwali Sharma along with General Manager District Industries Centre (DIC) Jammu AbhishakeAbrol and other officials from the Directorate and DIC. The event saw active participation from approximately 70–80 industry stakeholders, including MSME buyers and sellers.

During the session, the RXIL team delivered a comprehensive presentation on the operational framework of the TReDS platform, detailing the onboarding requirements, documentation process and the wide-ranging benefits for both sellers and buyers. Emphasis was laid on the platform’s ability to significantly reduce financing costs for MSMEs in comparison to conventional banking channels.

A key highlight of the discussion was the recent Union Budget announcement regarding the integration of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) with the TReDS platform. This strategic linkage is expected to facilitate timely payments for MSME vendors supplying to government departments, thereby enhancing liquidity and financial stability within the sector. The team also provided insights into the existing base of registered buyers and sellers on the RXIL platform and outlined strategies to expand participation among local enterprises.

The interactive session encouraged valuable inputs from the industry participants. Suggestions included enhancing platform flexibility to broaden MSME accessibility and introducing enabling provisions to support new and emerging entrepreneurs in leveraging TReDS benefits. Participants requested that these recommendations be escalated to higher authorities for consideration and implementation.

The programme concluded with a constructive exchange of views, underscoring the importance of addressing MSME concerns, streamlining onboarding processes and strengthening the overall TReDS ecosystem to ensure wider adoption. The Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to forwarding the feedback to the appropriate authorities and facilitating necessary reforms to improve the system’s effectiveness and inclusivity.
