Police demolish illegal structure of drug peddler in Srinagar, issues stern warning
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegramEmail

Srinagar, May 4: In a decisive crackdown under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan , Police on Monday has demolished an illegal residential structure belonging to a habitual Drug peddler in the Palpora Noorbagh area of Srinagar district.

The accused, Mohammad Irfan Sheikh @ Iff S/o Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh R/o Pamposh Colony, Palpora Noorbagh, is a known narcotics offender involved in multiple NDPS cases, including:FIR No. 134/2024 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act of PS Safakadal, FIR No. 48/2025 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Sangam.

Investigation and verification have revealed that the said structure was raised illegally on land acquired and developed using proceeds generated from narcotics trafficking. The construction was carried out without lawful authority, in clear violation of revenue laws.

It has further surfaced that close associates and family members of the accused are also reportedly involved in multiple NDPS cases across the Valley, indicating a wider network linked to drug peddling activities.

Acting on credible inputs and after due legal process, the demolition has been carried out in coordination with the concerned authorities, strictly in accordance with law and after completion of all codal formalities.

This action sends a clear and unequivocal message: properties created from proceeds of drug trafficking will not be spared, and those involved in narcotics trade will face strict and visible consequences.

Srinagar Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and remains committed to dismantling the entire ecosystem of narcotics, including financial and logistical networks. Citizens are urged to come forward and support this collective fight to safeguard the youth and society from the menace of drugs.
