G’bal : Eight medical shops were closed during a joint inspection drive in Gund and Hariganiwan areas of Ganderbal district for violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, officials said on Saturday.

The drive, conducted under the aegis of NMBA@100 in coordination with Police Station Gund, aimed at ensuring strict compliance with regulations governing the sale of medicines.

During inspections in Gund, one unlicensed medical shop was detected and closed on the spot. Two other shops were examined for compliance, and directions were issued to adhere to prescribed norms, they said.

In Hariganiwan, four medical shops were found violating various provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and were subsequently shut down, officials said. Authorities said a total of eight shops were closed during the day as part of the enforcement exercise, adding that such drives will continue to ensure proper regulation of medical establishments and prevent misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.
