Srinagar, May 2: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast a spell of wet weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days, with possibility of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds at several places.
According to the MeT, the weather is expected to remain generally dry on May 2, with a brief spell of light rain at a few places towards afternoon hours. However, from May 3 to 5, the region is likely to witness cloudy conditions with one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at most places.
The advisory also warns of hailstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph at a few locations during this period. Official data indicates continued thunderstorm and hailstorm activity in J&K between May 3 and 5 under an active weather system.
From May 6 to 9, the weather is expected to improve, with generally dry conditions likely to prevail across the Union Territory.
Meanwhile, the MeT has issued an advisory asking people to suspend boating and shikara activities during afternoon to evening hours of May 3 and 4, and to stay away from loose structures, electric poles and wires.
Farmers have also been advised to suspend agricultural operations from May 3 to 5 in view of the expected adverse weather conditions.
The authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and follow official advisories to avoid any untoward incidents.
