Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has seized nine vehicles for being involved in unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals in Pulwama and Shopian districts.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that in Pulwama, multiple naka checking operations led to the seizure of tippers and dumpers carrying illegally extracted sand and clay at Hawal Crossing and Newa. Cases have been registered at Police Stations Rajpora, Pulwama and Litter, and investigations are underway. In Shopian, police seized four vehicles involved in illegal mining near HefRambiara in the Ahchan Bridge area. A case has been registered at Police Station Zainapora. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining and appealed people to cooperate.
