Jammu :The SPARSH Committee of Government College of Education Jammu organized an awareness programme on SHe-Box (Sexual Harassment electronic Box) to sensitize students to workplace safety, gender dignity and mechanisms for reporting sexual harassment.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, Dr. Jyoti Parihar, who highlighted the importance of creating a safe, respectful and inclusive academic environment. She encouraged students to remain aware of their rights and responsibilities and emphasized the collective duty to ensure a harassment-free campus.

The session was conducted by the Resource Person, Dr. Sonam Gandotra, Head Department of ICT. She delivered an insightful presentation on SHe-Box, an initiative of the Government of India that provides a single-window online platform for lodging complaints related to sexual harassment at the workplace. She elaborated on the concept and forms of sexual harassment, including quid pro quo and hostile work environment and explained the process of filing complaints through SHe-Box. Stressing the importance of timely reporting and documentation, she conveyed the key message that silence encourages harassment.

The programme was convened by Dr. Davinder Kour, Convenor, SPARSH Committee, who ensured the smooth organization of the event. A total of 79 students actively participated in the programme and engaged meaningfully in the interactive session, reflecting their keen interest in understanding the subject.

The event was graced by the presence of senior faculty members including Dr. Rajinder Kour, Prof. Anuradha Chowdhary, Dr. Sushma Bala, Dr. Shalini Rana, Dr. Rakesh Bharti, Dr. Suraj Parkash, Prof. Roopa Kumari, Dr. Shallu Jasrotia and Prof. Deepali Devi. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Shalini Sharma, who appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee, the resource person and the participants for making the event a success. The initiative reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to fostering awareness, ensuring safety and promoting a culture of dignity and respect within the campus.
