Baramulla, May 01: J&K Police have stepped up their ongoing drive against drug trafficking by taking strict action against properties acquired through illicit narcotics trade in Baramulla and Shopian districts.

In Baramulla, Police have secured confirmation from the competent authority under the NDPS Act, 1985, for freezing the property of Habil Yaseen Dar, a resident of Tarhama Kunzer. The accused is involved in FIR No. 16/2025 registered at Police Station Kunzer, in which 10 grams of heroin were recovered from his possession. The property was initially seized on March 12, 2026, during the course of investigation. After due legal process, the SAFEMA/Competent Authority confirmed that the property had been acquired through proceeds of illegal drug trafficking and directed that it shall not be transferred, sold, or otherwise dealt with in any manner.

In a separate action in Shopian, Police have attached a double-storey residential house valued at ₹20,37,126 belonging to Ali Mohd Bhat, son of Gh Rasool Bhat resident of Haji Check Keegam. The property, recorded under Khasra No. 1163, was identified as having been acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade. The attachment was carried out in connection with FIR No. 212/2025 registered at Police Station Shopian in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, Lambardar, Chowkidar, and a duly constituted police team, ensuring full legal compliance and transparency.

J&K Police reaffirm their firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace by targeting both offenders and the financial assets generated through such illegal activities. Members of the public are urged to come forward with any information related to drug trafficking.
