DC Anantnag visits Shampora, extends condolences to bereaved family

Sanctions cumulative financial assistance of Rs 3.6 lakh for deceased, injured victims

 

Anantnag : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, on Wednesday visited Shampora, Qazigund, and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family of Fatima Altaf, a Class 2nd student who tragically lost her life after being hit by a vehicle on April 27 at Qullibagh, Kurigam.

The young girl was on her way to school along with her sister, Tehmima Altaf, and others when the unfortunate incident occurred.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner consoled the grieving family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. He also enquired about the health of the deceased’s sibling, who was critically injured during the accident.

As an immediate relief measure, Dr. Bilal sanctioned a cumulative financial assistance of Rs 3.6 lakh in favour of the affected families. An amount of Rs 2 lakh (Rs 1 lakh under Road Accident Assistance and Rs 1 lakh from the District Red Cross Fund) was sanctioned for the deceased. For the critically injured sibling, Rs 1 lakh (Rs 50,000 each under Road Accident Assistance and District Red Cross Fund) was sanctioned. Additionally, Rs 60,000 (Rs 50,000 under Road Accident Assistance and Rs 10,000 from the District Red Cross Fund) was sanctioned for another victim from another family who sustained minor injuries in the incident. The bank cheques for the sanctioned amount were handed over to the affected families on the occasion.

As a gesture of solidarity during this difficult time, the DC assured the families of all possible support from the administration for the proper treatment and recovery of the injured.

The DC was accompanied by ADC, Dr.Muzamil Maqbool, ARTO, Muazzam Ali, Tehsildar Qazigund, Shakeel Ahmad, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Qazigund, Mohd Iqbal, and other officials.
