DC Anantnag Visits Bereaved Family, Sanctions Aid After Qazigund Accident

Anantnag, APRIL 30: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat (IAS), on Thursday visited Shampora, Qazigund, and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family of Fatima Altaf, a Class 2nd student who tragically lost her life after being hit by a vehicle on April 27 at Qullibagh, Kurigam.

The young girl was on her way to school along with her sister, Tehmima Altaf, and others when the unfortunate incident occurred.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner consoled the grieving family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. He also enquired about the health of the deceased’s sibling, who was critically injured during the accident.

Dr. Bilal sanctioned Rs. 1 lakh as Road Accident Assistance and another Rs. 1 lakh from the District Red Cross Fund in favor of the deceased. Additionally, a total of Rs. 1 lakh; Rs. 50 thousand each as Road Accident Assistance and District Red Cross Fund, was sanctioned for the critically injured victim. Furthermore, Rs. 50 thousand as Road Accident Assistance and Rs. 10 thousand from the District Red Cross Fund were sanctioned in favor of one victim from another family who also had received minor injuries during the tragic incident.

The bank cheques for the sanctioned amount were handed over to the affected families on the occasion.

As a gesture of solidarity during this difficult time, the DC assured the families of all possible support from the administration for the proper treatment and recovery of the injured. The DC was accompanied by ADC, Dr. Muzamil Maqbool, ARTO, Muazzam Ali, Tehsildar Qazigund, Shakeel Ahmad, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Qazigund, Mohd Iqbal, and other officials.
