Committee asserts on identification of chronic areas to address public concerns

 

Jammu  : Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, Monday chaired a meeting of the Sub-Committee constituted to examine the issues related to Gair MumkinKhads in Jammu and Kashmir at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu.

The Committee emphasized the need for the protection of all flood zone areas while prioritizing the identification of chronic Gair Mumkin Khads to address persistent public concerns across various districts. The meeting included key officials such as the Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmad Rana, and the Minister for Agriculture Production, Javid Ahmad Dar, who are members of the Sub-Committee. Additional Chief Secretary Shaleen Kabra provided an update on the current status of Gair Mumkin Khads. The Deputy Chief Minister directed the immediate identification of chronic areas and stressed the importance of protecting flood-prone regions. He instructed relevant departments to submit detailed reports promptly and encouraged the gathering of public input to tackle issues related to Gair Mumkin Khads. The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the necessity of making pro-public and practical decisions to effectively address genuine grievances. He called for expedited zone-wise mapping, particularly in chronic areas, and emphasized the need for scientific mapping of Gair Mumkin Khads, nallahs, and adjacent non-cultivable lands. The Sub-Committee engaged in thorough discussions regarding the status of Gair Mumkin Khads, daryas, and nallahs, aiming to provide relief to the public where necessary. Minister Javed Ahmad Rana advocated for coordinated efforts among departments to ensure timely resolutions to public concerns, while Minister Javid Ahmad Dar reiterated the importance of addressing the public’s genuine issues. The meeting also included contributions from other officials, including the Secretary Revenue and Chief Engineer I&FC, who provided valuable insights into the ongoing challenges.
