Srinagar, Apr 27: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Monday retrieved the body of a youth from River Jhelum, nearly five days after he had allegedly jumped into the water body in Srinagar.
Officials said that the SDRF Quick Response Team (QRT) Jhelum recovered the body near Old Zaina Kadal during a search operation.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Quresh Siddiqi (18), son of Mohd Nawab Siddiqi, a resident of Bijnor, Kiratpura in Uttar Pradesh.
They said the youth had jumped into the River Jhelum from Badshah Bridge on April 22. After days of search efforts, his body was finally traced and retrieved today.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and further proceedings are underway.
