MeT Predicts Rain, Gusty Winds in J&K from April 27; Issues Heatwave Advisory for Five Jammu Districts

Dry Weather to Prevail Initially; Farmers Advised to Resume Operations, Public Asked to Avoid Heat Exposure

Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Sunday forecast generally dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir on April 26, followed by cloudy conditions with spells of light rain, thundershowers and gusty winds at scattered to many places from April 27 onwards.
Director MeT Centre Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, as per news agency JKNS, said that April 27-28 will witness generally cloudy skies with light rain and thundershower activity, mainly during afternoon and evening hours, while April 29-30 is expected to remain partly cloudy with brief spells of light rain at a few places.
He added that weather conditions are likely to remain generally dry again on May 1 and 2, while fresh spells of light rain and thunder are expected at scattered to many places on May 3 and 4.
Meanwhile, the MeT department has issued an advisory for farmers to resume farm operations between April 26 and the afternoon of April 27, taking advantage of the dry weather window.
The department has also warned of hot and dry weather conditions in Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi and Udhampur districts over the next two days, with chances of heatwave at isolated places on April 26 and 27.
People have been advised to avoid heat exposure during peak hours and stay hydrated by consuming fluids such as water, ORS and lassi. (JKNS)
