SRINAGAR: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, along with Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, Information Technology, and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma today participated in the “Sundays on Cycle – Special Edition (Chintan Shivir 2026)” event held in Srinagar, reaffirming the government’s commitment towards promoting fitness, environmental sustainability and a healthier lifestyle among the citizens.
The cycling event, organised as part of the ongoing Chintan Shivir activities, witnessed enthusiastic participation from youth, sports enthusiasts, government officials and members of civil society. The rally commenced from the Police Golf Course and culminated at the Royal Spring Golf Course, symbolising a collective resolve towards building a fit, active and progressive society.
Addressing the participants, the dignitaries highlighted the significance of initiatives like “Sundays on Cycle” in nurturing a culture of fitness and environmental responsibility. They emphasised that cycling not only enhances the physical well-being but also contributes significantly towards reducing the carbon emissions and promoting sustainable living practices.
The Ministers further stated that the government is focused on strengthening the sports infrastructure and encouraging widespread participation in physical activities, particularly among the youth in rural and border areas. They reiterated that such initiatives are aligned with the broader vision of “Viksit Bharat,” aimed at nurturing a healthy and vibrant population.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Satish Sharma also interacted with the participants and lauded their enthusiasm and commitment towards adopting a healthy lifestyle. They urged the citizens to incorporate cycling into their daily routines and play an active role in ensuring a cleaner and greener environment.
The event concluded with participants taking a renewed pledge to embrace fitness and contribute meaningfully towards nation-building through sustainable practices.
