Budgam:  State Election Commissioner (SEC), ShantmanuSaturday conducted an extensive visit of district Budgam to oversee process of the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls.

During his visit, the SEC participated in special awareness camps on SSR at Sheikhpora and Razwen areas of the district.

The State Election Commissioner (SEC) personally  monitored the registration process at special camps to ensure that all eligible citizens are included in the updated electoral rolls. He evaluated the progress of the revision process and highlighted the importance of accuracy, inclusivity, and error-free electoral rolls to enhance the democratic process at the grassroots level. The SEC emphasized transparency, fairness, and the timely completion of the revision exercise. During interactions with electoral officials, the SEC stressed the need for maximum public participation, particularly encouraging the enrollment of young voters, women, and marginalized groups. He pointed out the necessity of eliminating duplications and correcting discrepancies to ensure that no eligible voter is excluded from the electoral rolls. Engaging directly with first-time voters aged 18 and above, he underscored the significance of their involvement in the democratic process and urged the youth to take an active role in elections. In a subsequent high-level review meeting, the SEC assessed the current status of the summary revision across various constituencies, including voter registration, verification drives, awareness campaigns, and field-level coordination. Key officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Budgam and other election-related officers, participated in the meeting. The SEC directed these officials to adopt a proactive approach in conducting door-to-door verification and to effectively utilize digital platforms to streamline the registration process, ensuring an inclusive and error-free voter list. He also called for intensified awareness efforts to inform citizens about the Summary Revision (SSR) process, encouraging active participation in updating electoral details. The SEC reiterated the importance of close monitoring at all levels and maintaining coordination among stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of the electoral roll revision, emphasizing that a robust and updated electoral roll is essential for a free, fair, and transparent election process.
