Baramulla, April 25: J&K Police, in its continued and resolute drive against drug trafficking, achieved a significant breakthrough in a recent case registered as FIR Nr. 40/2026 U/S 8/22 of NDPS Act at Police Station Kreeri.

A Police spokesperson said, Acting swiftly during naka checking at Nawan Mode, Baramulla Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substances. During sustained investigation and follow-up action, Baramulla Police developed crucial leads regarding the source of the contraband. On the basis of inputs generated by Baramulla Police, the Drug Department was immediately roped in to take necessary action. Acting on these leads, a joint effort led to the inspection of a medical shop namely New Azad Medicate, Kreeri, owned by Mohamad Ashraf Wani (License Holder).

During the inspection, serious violations of drug control regulations were detected. Consequently, the Drug Department sealed the said medical shop and suspended the license of the proprietor.

This action highlights the proactive role of J&K Police in not only apprehending drug peddlers but also in identifying and dismantling the supply chains facilitating drug abuse.

Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society. The public is once again urged by Baramulla Police to cooperate and share information regarding drug-related activities to help build a safer and drug-free society.
