Anantnag, April 25: Police on Saturday launched a major crackdown against drug peddlers in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district by carrying out intensive searches at 20 identified hotspots.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag said that certain areas with the presence of chronic drug peddlers had been identified, following which raids were conducted at their premises.
He said the searches were aimed at dismantling the drug network and preventive measures were taken under relevant provisions of law.
The SSP said services of Police Narco K9 squads were also utilised during the operations to assist in detection.
He added that during the raids, police also surveyed movable and immovable properties of the suspects to ascertain sources of funding, stating that properties found linked to drug proceeds would be attached under law.
Police reiterated its commitment to continue strict action against drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate in eradicating the menace.
