Ganderbal :In a spirited effort to instil healthy habits among young people and reinforce the message of a drug-free society, the District Administration Ganderbal Friday organised a Cyclothon as part of the NashaMukt Abhiyan- a 100-Day Campaign being observed across Jammu & Kashmir.

Held with considerable enthusiasm, the Cyclothon was flagged-off from Clock Tower Duderhama Ganderbal witnessing participation from Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, Principal Government College of Physical Education Gadoora, District Youth Services and Sports Officer besides students from across the district in a collective display of energy, discipline, and social awareness.

Students drawn from 15 schools across Ganderbal participated in the Cyclothon, reflecting a strong sense of commitment towards physical fitness and social responsibility.

The event culminated at Government College of Physical Education Gadoora with Haris Hameed of Qamria Model Higher Secondary School, Ganderbal bagging the first position, while Mohammad Faizan of Sultania English Medium School, Saloora Ganderbal and HanzilImtiyaz of Islamia Hanifia Model School, Haran Ganderbal secured the second and third positions respectively.

The officers of District Administration present on the occasion appreciated the active participation of students and commended the efforts of the organising team.

Emphasising the broader purpose of such events, they noted that initiatives of this nature play a vital role in channelling the energy of young people towards constructive pursuits, encouraging them to embrace a healthy lifestyle and steer clear of substance abuse.

NashaMukt Pledge was also taken on the occasion, reaffirming the participants’ commitment towards building a drug-free society.

Concluding on a purposeful note, the event sent out a strong and unambiguous message that fitness, discipline, and a drug-free way of life are not just ideals but a shared responsibility of every citizen, especially the youth who represent the future of society.
