Srinagar: Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State Raksha Nikhil Khadse will lead a three-day Chintan Shivir of Youth Affairs and Sports Ministers from April 24 to 26 at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar.
Organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the high-level meet will bring together ministers and officials from States and Union Territories to deliberate on strengthening sports governance and youth development through enhanced Centre–State coordination.
Senior officials, including Pallavi Jain Govil, Nitesh Kumar Mishra, and Hari Ranjan Rao, will participate along with representatives of flagship programmes such as Khelo India, Fit India Movement, MY Bharat, and the National Service Scheme.
Key discussions will focus on strengthening the country’s sports ecosystem, including medal strategies, athlete development pathways, and grassroots talent identification under Khelo India. The Shivir will also take up issues of sports governance, promotion of clean sport, and development of a sports goods manufacturing ecosystem, alongside reviewing progress on previous action points.
On the youth affairs front, deliberations will centre on the Annual Action Plan 2026–27, strengthening grassroots youth clubs, and expanding digital engagement through the MY Bharat platform. Greater convergence between MY Bharat and NSS, including fund flow and programme coordination, will also be discussed to improve outreach and efficiency. Themes such as leadership development, volunteerism, experiential learning, and initiatives like the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan will feature prominently.
Structured around the themes “Samvaad Se Samadhaan”, “Samadhaan Se Sankalp” and “Aatmaavlokan”, the programme will include keynote sessions, presentations, policy discussions, and collaborative group work aimed at generating actionable outcomes.
The event will also feature yoga sessions, a Fit India cyclothon, and a cultural programme, providing space for both formal deliberations and informal consultations.
The Chintan Shivir is expected to reinforce cooperative federalism and shape future policy direction in sports and youth development, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. PIB
