Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the commissioning of the new unit reflects growing investor confidence and a transformed industrial landscape in Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that the region is witnessing rapid industrialisation across districts including Samba, Kathua, and Jammu, as well as parts of Kashmir.
Highlighting investment trends, he said Jammu and Kashmir attracted ₹5,824 crore in FY 2025–26, registering a sharp rise compared to pre-2021 levels. Investments stood at ₹2,153 crore in FY 2022–23, ₹3,389 crore in FY 2023–24, and ₹4,145 crore in FY 2024–25, indicating sustained growth momentum. Additionally, work is underway on 312 industrial units worth ₹7,864 crore, with production expected to begin in FY 2026–27.
The Lieutenant Governor said the UT has also witnessed the emergence of high-value industrial units, including projects by ChiripalPolyfilms, Kandhari Beverages, and Aegios, each involving investments exceeding ₹500 crore.
Referring to the startup ecosystem, he said the number of startups has grown from 69 in 2020 to 1,305 in FY 2025–26, reflecting a sharp rise in entrepreneurial activity and employment generation.
The Eveready facility, a state-of-the-art greenfield plant, is expected to generate around 500 direct and indirect jobs at full capacity. It will have an annual peak production capacity of approximately 360 million alkaline batteries, with an installed capacity of 456 million units, significantly enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities.Senior officials, industry representatives, and company executives were present at the inauguration ceremony.
