DC Srinagar presides over Mega Awareness-Cum-Registration Camp

Over 5,000 rooftop solar installations in Srinagar

 

Srinagar | April, 22:Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, AkshayLabrooWednesday  presided over a mega Awareness-cum-Registration Camp on the PM Surya GharMuft Bijli Yojana here at Kashmir Haat (Numaish Gah) aimed at sensitizing citizens about the scheme benefits and facilitating on-the-spot registrations

The programme was organized by Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to spread awareness about rooftop solar installations and encourage residents to avail benefits under the scheme.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens, reflecting growing interest in sustainable energy solutions under PM Surya GharMuft Bijli Yojana.

The mega awareness camp was attended by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineer KPDCL, Syed Ahmad Wani, Superintending Engineer KPDCL Mohammad Amin Shah Executive Engineers of all four divisions of KPDCL including Syed Abrar, Tasaduq Nabi, Nissar Ahmad, other KPDCL Officers, scheme vendors and technical experts.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the advantages of the scheme, noting that Rooftop Solar installations can significantly reduce electricity bills while contributing to environmental sustainability. He emphasized that the initiative provides subsidies to households, making clean energy solutions more affordable and accessible.

Highlighting the purpose of the event, AkshayLabroo said the programme was aimed at informing residents about the benefits of the PM Surya GharMuft Bijli Yojana and facilitating on-the-spot registrations. He noted that the scheme is demand-driven and voluntary in nature, and urged people to enroll and take advantage of the opportunity to reduce energy costs while contributing to environmental conservation.

The DC emphasized further intensifying outreach efforts and organize similar awareness camps across the district to ensure wider coverage under the scheme so that maximum households are benefited with less electricity bills and promoting renewable energy to contribute to the environment.

During the event, the DC inspected awareness and registration stalls set up by KPDCL and vendors and encouraged continued outreach efforts. He also felicitated beneficiaries who have already availed the benefits of the scheme and commended the efforts of District Administration, KPDCL and Stakeholders involved in its implementation.

On the occasion, Officers from the concerned departments and technical experts were present at the venue to guide participants on eligibility criteria, subsidy provisions, installation procedures, and registration processes under the PM Surya GharMuft Bijli Yojana. Live demonstrations and interactive sessions were also conducted to address public queries and concerns.

During the camp, several beneficiaries shared their views on the advantages of installing rooftop solar panels under the PM Surya GharMuft Bijli Yojana in their homes.

Earlier, it was informed during the programme that over 5,000 rooftop solar panels have been installed in Srinagar District under the PM Surya GharMuft Bijli Yojana.
