Ganderbal : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized 10 vehicles; including 07 tippers and 03 tractors for illegal extraction of minerals in the jurisdiction of Police Station Lar, Police Station Kangan, Police Station Ganderbal, Police Station Gund and Police Station Kheerbawani in Ganderval district.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that vehicles were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. The vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.
In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities in the district and appealed people to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources, warning therein that strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices.
