15 vehicles seized for illegal mining in Ganderbal, Anantnag , Shopian : Police

Ganderbal : Police on Tuesday seized 15 vehicles, including tractors, tippers, and a JCB, across Ganderbal, Anantnag, and Shopian.

According to a police statement issued here on Tuesday in Ganderbal, four tractors were seized in Kangan and Gund areas for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. Action was taken in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department.

In Anantnag, four tippers carrying minerals illegally were intercepted near Kokernag. The vehicles were seized and legal proceedings initiated.

In Shopian, multiple operations led to the seizure of tractors and a JCB involved in illegal mining. FIRs have been registered and investigations are underway.

In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to take strict action against illegal mining and urged public cooperation.
