Historic Return: Kashmir Association Bangalore Elections After 13 Years, 14 Candidates in High-Stakes Contest

Bangalore, April 21, 2026: In a major and long-awaited development, the Kashmir Association Bangalore is set to conduct its elections on 22nd April 2026 (Wednesday), marking the return of democratic leadership after more than 13 years.

This election is being widely viewed as a defining moment for the Kashmiri community in Bangalore, with renewed energy, strong participation, and a shared vision to rebuild the association’s presence and impact.

A total of 14 candidates across two panels – Panel A and Panel B – are contesting for key leadership positions, making this one of the most competitive and closely watched elections in the association’s history.

Panel A Candidates

  • President: Arshid Hussain Baba
  • Vice President: Hilal Ahmed
  • General Secretary: Tahir Bazar
  • Secretary: Sarwar Hussain Mir
  •  Joint Secretary: Mir Nawaz
  • – Organising/Managing Secretary: Javeed Saleem Mir
  • Treasurer: Mir Riyaz Ahmad

Panel B Candidates

  • President: Firdous Ahmad Malik
  •  Vice President: Mohd Waseem Baba
  •  General Secretary: Hakim Waseem
  •  Secretary: Altaf Bhat
  •  Joint Secretary: Irfan ul Hassan
  • Organising/Managing Secretary: Mohd Yaseen Malla
  •  Treasurer: Mohammad Yousuf Jolly

The upcoming elections are expected to witness significant voter turnout, reflecting the community’s strong desire for transparent governance, unity, and progressive leadership.

After over a decade, this election is set to re-establish the association’s active and credible presence in Bangalore, strengthening its role in supporting Kashmiris across sectors including business, employment, education, and social welfare.

Both panels have actively campaigned on key priorities such as:

  • Strengthening community unity and representation
  •  Building reliable support systems for members
  • Expanding business opportunities and networking platforms
  •  Ensuring transparency, accountability, and inclusive leadership

Voices from the Candidates

Speaking ahead of the elections, Joint Secretary candidate Mir Nawaz (Panel A) shared his perspective on the importance of this moment:

“After more than 13 years, this election is not just about leadership—it is about rebuilding trust and unity within our community. Having spent over two decades in Bangalore, I understand the needs and aspirations of our people. This is a collective opportunity for all of us to come together and strengthen our association for the future.”

The atmosphere in the run-up to the elections has been described as highly energetic and engaging, with enthusiastic participation from youth, professionals, entrepreneurs, and senior members of the community.

Results Announcement

The results will be officially declared on the night of 22nd April 2026, concluding what is expected to be a landmark election for the association.
