11 drug peddlers arrested; contraband, vehicles seized across Kashmir

Srinagar |: Police on Monday said that it has  arrested 11 drug peddlers and seized significant quantities of contraband and vehicles in multiple operations across Kashmir.

In Anantnag, three drug peddlers were arrested in two separate operations. At Tulkhan Bridge, an accused was apprehended with 1.269 kg of charas powder. In another operation at Batengoo–Uranhall crossing, two individuals were arrested with a total of 78 grams of charas powder, and the vehicle used in the offence was seized.

In Pulwama, four drug peddlers were arrested in two operations. Police recovered heroin and brown sugar-like substances along with cash, and seized motorcycles used in the commission of the crime.

In Handwara, one drug peddler was arrested at Shahlaal Crossing with charas-like substance.

In Baramulla, two accused were apprehended at WanigamPayeen with 18 grams of charas and 70 Tapentadol tablets. The vehicle used in the offence was also seized.

In Bandipora, police arrested a drug peddler at BanyariAjas and recovered 5.7 kg of charas powder from his possession.

All accused have been booked under relevant sections of law, and investigations are underway.

In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to  zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and  strict action against peddlers and smugglers .
