Kolkata, April 19 (UNI) Speaking at tribal-dominated Purulia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday alleged that the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) is indulging in appeasement politics to please a particular community.
He claimed that this approach has led to neglect of tribal regions and imbalance in governance.
“Many schools are running without teachers. The Santhali language is being insulted, while hefty allocations are made to madrasas. This is outright appeasement, and the BJP will not allow this to continue,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister further accused the TMC government of fostering a climate of fear that is detrimental to investment and development.
“Factories don’t come in fear; they come on trust. Investment cannot come where there is fear—it comes in an environment of trust. So, there will be no more cut money game,” he asserted, adding that industries have avoided the state due to corruption and intimidation.
Targeting what he termed as “fear politics,” Modi said, “No work gets done here without paying cut money. If this continues, how will industries come? This culture must end.”
Earlier, addressing a high-voltage rally in Bishnupur, Modi issued a stern warning against alleged syndicate operations and corruption.
“I am giving a final warning to all syndicates and goons—surrender at your nearest police station before April 29, preferably by the 23rd. After the election results on May 4, no one will be spared,” he said.
Highlighting the BJP’s outreach to tribal communities, Modi said the Centre had created a separate ministry for tribal affairs and increased allocations threefold.
He also noted that the government recognised Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary and ensured greater political representation for tribal leaders, including the elevation of a tribal President.
Criticising the state government, Modi alleged, “Fifteen years of corruption have troubled every family in West Bengal. Tribal districts are lagging behind under TMC’s jungle raj. Roads, water, schools—everything is in poor condition. Even tribal land is not under tribal control, with syndicates running the show.”
He promised that a BJP government would end illegal mining, syndicate control and corruption.
“BJP will stop this loot and water will reach your homes. We will uproot this syndicate system,” he said.
Raising concerns over women’s safety, the Prime Minister accused the TMC of “crushing security,” alleging incidents of violence and crime against women in the state.
Calling for electoral change, Modi urged voters to defeat the TMC in every booth.
“You have elected BJP MPs here. Now it is important to elect BJP MLAs as well. You have made me Prime Minister; now make a BJP Chief Minister here too,” he said.
Expressing confidence about the election outcome, Modi added, “From my political experience, I can say that after May 4, West Bengal will have a BJP Chief Minister. If both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister are from the BJP, Purulia’s development will double in speed—CM, PM ek sathe, unnati hobe dine rate.”
Referring to welfare promises, Modi highlighted that under the BJP’s manifesto, women would receive Rs 36,000 annually, Rs 21,000 assistance during pregnancy, and Rs 50,000 for education support, along with efforts to ensure higher income for 7.5 million women.
He also accused the TMC of opposing the 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament, urging voters to “punish the party for this offence” during the elections.
