Washington, April 18 (Sputnik/UNI) US President Donald Trump said he expects good prospects for negotiations with Iran, expressing confidence that few differences remain to be resolved to reach a deal.
“The talks are going on, and it’ll go on over the weekend, and a lot of good things are happening,” Trump told reporters.
He assessed the discussions with Iranian representatives as “very good,” expressing hope that things will continue to be “very good.”
The US leader said all differences with Iran should be resolved.
“I don’t think there are too many significant differences,” he said.
Trump said that most points for US-Iran deal have been negotiated.
“And this process, we’re getting along well, but who knows? Who knows with anyone, but who knows with Iran in particular? This process should go very quickly, and that most of the points are already negotiated and agreed to,” Trump said at an event of the conservative movement Turning Point in Arizona.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran responded by striking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.
On April 7, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire. Subsequent talks in Islamabad ended without result. While no resumption of hostilities was announced, the US began a blockade of Iranian ports.
