Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday flagged off a grand Shobha Yatra from Chanakya Chowk, Parade Ground, Jammu, to commemorate Bhagwan Parshuram Ji Jayanti.
The procession was organised by the Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha to celebrate the life and teachings of Bhagwan Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The Lieutenant Governor paid obeisance to Bhagwan Parshuram and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity for all.
Prominent religious leaders, members of the organising committee, public representatives including MLAs Yudhvir Sethi and Devyani Rana, senior officials and a large number of citizens participated in the flag-off ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, organisers said the annual procession reflects the cultural and spiritual heritage of Jammu and promotes the message of unity, devotion and social harmony. The yatra witnessed participation from various religious organisations and members of different sections of society.
Earlier in the day, a delegation of Shri Ram Chandra Mission led by its Working Committee Member R.C. Gupta also called on the Lieutenant Governor at Raj Bhavan and discussed matters related to spiritual and social initiatives.
