Srinagar : Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi chaired a high-level security review meeting at PCR Kashmir to assess and finalise arrangements for forthcoming events across the Valley. The meeting was attended by senior officers from various security agencies, including the CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, Traffic Police, CID, SDRF, Army, and district police units.
The focus of the meeting was on enhancing the existing security framework and optimizing the deployment of resources at sensitive and vulnerable locations. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) emphasized the need for intensified surveillance of anti-national elements and urged officers to enhance their presence in their respective jurisdictions. A significant point of discussion was the security of vital installations and major tourist destinations, with the aim of ensuring a safe environment for visitors. Officers were instructed to maintain vigilant monitoring along inter-district boundaries to prevent any suspicious activities. Additionally, Birdi reviewed traffic management strategies for Srinagar city, directing the implementation of a comprehensive plan to alleviate congestion and facilitate smooth vehicular movement. The IGP also assessed the preparedness for Hajj arrangements, highlighting the importance of adequate security, coordination, and facilitation to ensure the seamless movement of pilgrims. Furthermore, he called for strict monitoring of social media platforms to combat misinformation and advocated for intensified cordon and search operations, particularly in sensitive areas and along national highways. The meeting concluded with a commitment to uphold high levels of preparedness and coordination among the various security agencies.
