US President Donald Trump on Friday said that the Strait of Hormuz is now “completely open and ready for business and full passage,” even as he asserted that a naval blockade targeting Iran will remain in force until ongoing transactions with Tehran are fully concluded.
In a post on his Truth Social, Trump said that while commercial movement through the strategic waterway has resumed, restrictions specifically concerning Iran will continue “in full force and effect” until the United States completes its dealings with the country.
He further claimed that the process is expected to conclude swiftly, noting that “most of the points are already negotiated.”
The remarks come amid heightened geopolitical developments in West Asia, particularly following the recent ceasefire in Lebanon, with the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical oil transit chokepoints—remaining central to global trade and energy security.
